The opening of the 2008 Chinese Baseball League, which begins on Friday, April 11th, is almost here. A series of exchange parties between CBL players and local fans are being held in six cities that have CBL teams, and the first one was held in mid March. (Organizers: China Baseball Marketing Corporation)
The first exchange party was held on Sunday, March 15th at a restaurant located in a particular region of the Waitan Huang Pu Jiang (the Waitan area of the Huangpu River) in the suburbs of Shanghai. Coach He Chang Zheng and players Chen Qi, Yang Zhen, Zhang Ji and Zhao Xie Yi of the Shanghai Golden Eagles spent about two hours with college students from fourteen universities including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University etc. and enjoyed a friendly and relaxed time.
At the party, the players first introduced themselves and shared their own goals for the season. They also took many questions from the fans in attendance. The Golden Eagles players answered each of the questions honestly and promised that they would keep in contact with the fans through exchange activities during the season, coaching clinics at their respective universities or through blogs. At the end of the event, all of the fans received a ball autographed by the players. The fans, who were more than satisfied after taking a commemorative photo with the players, promised that they would go out to the stadium during the season and root for the Golden Eagles.
