【The Chinese National Team to Play Games in the Arizona Fall League】

The Chinese national baseball team, following a three week visit to Japan starting in mid-August, arrived in the United States on September 21st -with the support and cooperation of Major League Baseball in the United Sates (MLB)- and are currently participating in a training camp at the Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. To finish off the training camp, Team China is scheduled to play six games against all teams in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) beginning on October 25th. People are expecting great results to come out of the whole trip

【The “2007 National Youth Baseball Tournament” Held in Wuxi】

The “2007 National Youth Baseball Tournament” was held at the Wuxi Stadium in Jiangsu Province for six days from October 11th to the 16th. This tournament consisted of baseball teams for the Physical Education Bureau in the same 6 cities that have CBL (China Baseball League) teams and all of the players were between ages 17 and 19. The first round was a round-robin tournament (5 games per team) and resulted in the following standings: 1st Guang Dong (5-0); 2nd Shanghai (4-1); 3rd Jiangsu (3-2); 4th Beijing (2-3); 5th Tianjin (1-4); 6th Sichuan (0-5). The results of the consolation finals between the 1st and 2nd place, 3rd and 4th place, and 5th and 6th place teams were as follows. Although Shanghai team of CBL experienced the bitter taste of being defeated in postseason games in two consecutive seasons, the young players of Shanghai have revenged a defeat.

officially named “Linmu & Linnan!”

【CBL Fan Club Character Named through Internet Voting】
The number of people who have joined the CBL Fan Club, which was established along with the complete renewal of the CBL Fan Club official website this April, has exceeded 1,700 to date (October 25th), and the number of visitors to the site is continuing to increase.
The Mascots for the CBL Fan Club was designed voluntarily by the Japanese comic artist Mitsuru Adachi, who is famous for such comics as “Touch” and “H2,” and has become a big hit among Chinese baseball fans. Because of the fact that we had numerous requests saying “I want to name the mascots,” we at the fan club head office began to accept proposals for mascot names and received numerous suggestions.
Upon the review of the name proposals, which was conducted along with the cooperation of Mr. Adachi and the editorial department for Shonen Sunday Magazine (Shogakkan), the following names were chosen for consideration. A final selection was made through an internet voting process which took place from October 11th to the 21st.

The Chinese Pronunciation for the names is “Linmu & Linnan.” We decided to award the person who came up with the chosen name and 2 fan club members who participated in the internet voting chosen by lottery (a total of three people) a printed board of the mascots autographed by Mr. Adachi.
